Make Your Own 7 Train Subway Car

A Ride On The 7 Train is a celebration of NYC neighborhoods and the subway that connects them. I’m bringing this project to 1000 kids across Queens but you can make your own subway car at home by downloading the printable template!

Supplies:

  • Printable Template (2 pages total) - Printed on US Letter 8.5” x 11” paper

  • Crayons / Colored Pencils / Markers etc.

  • Scissors

  • (1) Sheet of Cardstock - US Letter 8.5” x 11”

  • Tape (clear scotch)

Step 1: Print Templates

Save the below image templates and print on US Letter 8.5” x 11” paper.

Step 2: Color & Cut

Color your subway car anyway you like. Use crayons, colored pencils, markers etc. Unleash your imagination and don’t forget to write your name. Then use a pair of scissors to cut on the bold dotted lines (careful to not cut on the “fold here” lines)

Step 3: Fold the Cardstock

Fold the cardstock in half and then in quarters as shown below. The folded cardstock can then become a rectangular box for your subway.

Step 4: Tape

Time to tape the cut out pieces of your train to the box. Start with the front end pieces by folding on the “Fold Here” lines. Then tape on the sides and finish with the top. Use and much tape as you need.
